Mary Seacole came to tell us her life story. She took us on a journey from her childhood in sunny Jamaica, to Crimea, where she helped injured soldiers and finally to England, where she wrote a book about her life. We had a lovely time singing songs about making medicines and going at sea with Mary and her friends.

Year 5 enjoyed a one-night residential trip to Broadstone Warren Scout Site. Children enjoyed the opportunity to spend the time together and for some it was the first time they had stayed overnight without their families. The children learnt so much from the experience. They built their self-confidence by taking part in orienteering, hiking, team games, building a camp fire, toasting marshmallows, wide games, frisbee golf and making their own lunches! They even had dinner and breakfast cooked by our very own school staff who were accompanying them – most pupil reports confirmed that their cooking skills were up to scratch!
