Keep up to date with what's happening in school.
Thank you so much for coming to our book swap event last Friday. The event was an incredible success. Seeing pupils sharing stories and their love for reading was why we love to host events like this!
We wanted to say a huge thank you to all School Council members for designing the book tokens, organising and setting up the event. We look forward to hosting another book swap in the future!
From Miss Carvall and Miss Fryman- School Council
Year 3 had a fantastic Stone Age Day! It was an opportunity for the children to dress up and share some of the experiences of these pre-historic hunter-gatherers.
We have had a great time with our fluffy visitors! We have looked at the life cycle of a duck, what they look and feel like, what they have on their bodies and why, what they need to stay fit and healthy and what we need to do in order to be good duckling carers!
We have watched them sleep, eat, poop, wash and swim! The children have loved having them in our classroom as it has provided them with first-hand experience and enriched their learning this week.
Many thanks to Margaux's Mum, Charlotte, who came into Year 2 & 4 to share with pupils all about her exciting job at the jewellery company 'Tatty Devine!'
Charlotte spoke to the children all about what her job entails, shared some examples of their products and how the fantastic designs are brought to life. She also shared with them the wonderful designs they have for World Book Day, which you can see here.
Using these, and their own favourite books as inspiration, pupils designed and created their own brilliant piece, which you can see below. Can you guess any of their favourite books from their designs?
This World Book Day, we are all finding ways to enjoy reading. We've had a day packed with online author visits, a special World Book Day assembly, poetry performances, jewellery making, book recommendations and so much more. Look out for more information on how we have celebrated World Book Day in our upcoming newsletter.
New arrivals! Nestled within our vibrant learning environment, Reception have the responsibility of looking after 6 duck eggs over the next few weeks. By doing this, we are actively supporting the preservation of pure and rare poultry breeds, some of which are listed as 'at risk' with the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.
We have been learning all about the life cycles of different animals and how to care for them. We are so excited for them to hatch!
Staff members completed their fire warden training today. Everyone involved gained in-depth fire safety knowledge and brushed up on their extinguisher skills.
Please see the Spring 1 Newsletter under the 'News and Events' tab.
We are pleased to have been presented with an Anaphylaxis UK AllergyWise School 2024 award. The award recognises our commitment to training staff, raising allergy awareness with pupils and encouraging a whole school awareness approach to help ensure that our pupils with allergies are safe in school.
What a wonderful morning we've had!! Thank you to Gabby Dawnay for sharing her beautiful book with us - If I Had a Crocodile and Alex Barrow for sharing his illustrations with us and teaching us how to draw a crocodile.
