Hidden Treasures of the Thames

Year 4 uncovered the fascinating stories hidden beneath the River Thames during an exciting mudlarking workshop at school.

Year 4 welcomed a visitor to school for an engaging workshop on the fascinating world of mudlarking; the search for historical objects hidden in the mud along the banks of the River Thames. The children learnt how these discoveries help historians and archaeologists uncover London's rich history.

Linking with their History learning on the Romans, the pupils explored a range of artefacts, including a Roman hairpin and Neolithic tools, discussing what these objects reveal about life in different periods of history. It was a fascinating hands-on session that brought the past to life.
