A Special Visit from Dapo Adeola!

We were thrilled to welcome award-winning illustrator and author Dapo Adeola to our school this term! Dapo is best known for his vibrant illustrations and for co-creating the much-loved book Look Up!, which won the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.

During his visit, Dapo captivated the children by reading Look Up! aloud, bringing the story to life with energy, humour and warmth. The pupils loved meeting Rocket, the book’s star character and learning all about her dream of becoming an astronaut.

After the reading, Dapo led a fun and inspiring illustration workshop where he taught the children how to draw Look Up!’s cheeky cat, Luna! With step-by-step guidance, everyone had a go at sketching their own version and the results were fantastic!

Nursery children had a special treat too — Dapo read his brand-new book Super Goat Girl, which had them giggling and completely hooked from the start. It was a wonderful introduction to storytelling for our youngest pupils.

To make the day even more memorable, children had the opportunity to get their books signed by Dapo. Many proudly left school with personalised copies of Super Goat Girl which are sure to be treasured for years to come.

Dapo’s visit has sparked excitement and imagination across the school. We’re so grateful he took the time to share his talents with us and we’re sure many young artists and storytellers went home feeling truly inspired!
