African Drumming Workshop

Today, our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils took part in an exciting African drumming workshop, and what a fantastic experience it was!

The session was provided free of charge as part of The Sound of Croydon: Celebrating Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, in partnership with the Museum of Croydon.

The workshop was led by the wonderful Cheikh Diop, who shared his expertise in traditional African drumming and brought incredible energy to the session. Pupils explored rhythm and musical expression while learning about the influence of African music on composers like Coleridge-Taylor, who grew up in Croydon.

The energy in the room was amazing, and it was fantastic to see everyone so engaged and enthusiastic—an experience thoroughly enjoyed by both students and staff!
