Keep up to date with what's happening in school.
In Reception we have been looking at the 'Wonderful World', specifically 'Rainforest' and 'Deserts'. Through our immersive activities, role plays and 'small world' areas we have been learning lots of new vocabulary and facts! We have been writing our own 'fact books' and 'did you know' posters. We also have been creating habitat boxes out of shoeboxes.
Did you know that some dinosaur fossils have been found in the desert? The Sahara desert is mostly rock, not sand!
Have a look at some of our outdoor activities! Year 1 have been exploring 'Games Around The World'. We have been looking rules of different types of games and developing our critical thinking skills.
Today saw the launch of Pabulum's new lunch offer for our Year 6 pupils. The menu today was titled 'Wings and Things' and the food looked and tasted great!
The children were very excited and also very complimentary about the new dishes and lunchtime experience. We look forward to next Thursday when the children will be trying out paninis.
A big thank you to our wonderful Spring Term waiters and waitresses for giving up their own time to help in the dinner hall. They have been busy serving water, encouraging their peers to make healthy choices, reducing food waste, supporting our lunch hall expectations and refilling cutlery.
We are very grateful for all of their help. They enjoyed a 'golden table' lunch experience yesterday and a little Easter treat!
Thank you so much for coming to our book swap event last Friday. The event was an incredible success. Seeing pupils sharing stories and their love for reading was why we love to host events like this!
We wanted to say a huge thank you to all School Council members for designing the book tokens, organising and setting up the event. We look forward to hosting another book swap in the future!
From Miss Carvall and Miss Fryman- School Council
Year 3 had a fantastic Stone Age Day! It was an opportunity for the children to dress up and share some of the experiences of these pre-historic hunter-gatherers.
Red Nose Day
Throughout this week, the year 6 leaders have been organising activities and events for the school to take part in to raise money for Comic Relief. The theme was 'Do Something Funny for Money', so one of the events was a 'best joke competition'. The year 6 leaders heard some great jokes and the best jokes from KS1 and KS2 were announced in assembly. Red noses were also painted on the day and we had a cupcake and badge sale. Thanks to the Rockmount Community, we were able to raise over £300.
A big thank you from the Year 6 Team and to our Year 6 Leaders for helping to raise so much.
We have had a great time with our fluffy visitors! We have looked at the life cycle of a duck, what they look and feel like, what they have on their bodies and why, what they need to stay fit and healthy and what we need to do in order to be good duckling carers!
We have watched them sleep, eat, poop, wash and swim! The children have loved having them in our classroom as it has provided them with first-hand experience and enriched their learning this week.
Many thanks to Margaux's Mum, Charlotte, who came into Year 2 & 4 to share with pupils all about her exciting job at the jewellery company 'Tatty Devine!'
Charlotte spoke to the children all about what her job entails, shared some examples of their products and how the fantastic designs are brought to life. She also shared with them the wonderful designs they have for World Book Day, which you can see here.
Using these, and their own favourite books as inspiration, pupils designed and created their own brilliant piece, which you can see below. Can you guess any of their favourite books from their designs?
This World Book Day, we are all finding ways to enjoy reading. We've had a day packed with online author visits, a special World Book Day assembly, poetry performances, jewellery making, book recommendations and so much more. Look out for more information on how we have celebrated World Book Day in our upcoming newsletter.
