At Rockmount Primary School we are proud to have 16 pupils from years 5 with playground and sporting event responsibilities. Their playground duties include helping lunchtime supervisors to set out and clear away the playground equipment; helping children have fun and engage with sports and games and supporting those children who may be finding playtimes a bit challenging.
Our new Year 5 Sports Leaders are currently completing their Sports Leader training with CSSP (Croydon Sports Partnership). This 6-week course helps the children to understand their role and the duties involved at a deeper level. When the leaders complete their course, they will arrange a graduation event for KS1. We look forward to the leaders arranging some more exciting sporting activities this year!

Multi-skills festival
On Friday 10th February, the Sports Leaders hosted their own multi-skills festival for Year 1 and 2. The children had an opportunity to take part in a variety of games and were grouped in mixed ability groups. Year 1 and Year 2 thoroughly enjoyed the event. This was the first event our new Sports Leaders have hosted and they are now officially graduated. Well done Sports Leaders!
Cross country Year 1 to Year 6
On Friday 28th April, the Sports Leaders and Daniel from CSSP(Croydon Sports Partnership) hosted a Cross Country Event for Years 1 to 6. Each year group had the opportunity to take part in a friendly race. It was a very enjoyable event and even some of the teachers joined in!
We are very proud of our Sports Leaders and all the children that participated.
