Year 6 Choir performs at the O2 Arena

On Monday 16th January the Year 6 Choir joined together with over 9000 children to form the Young Voices Choir at the O2 Arena. We spent the afternoon rehearsing at the O2 before performing in the evening to a packed audience. The concert sounded and looked amazing!

Two piano solos from Tom (Y5). Tom has continued to learn piano with Siobhan Morgan - who sadly had to leave Rockmount when she moved to Wales. It's great to see something that started out as a temporary fix in lockdown continuing to be such a success. As you can see from Tom's great playing, online piano lessons definitely work just as well!

During Remembrance day this year, the children at Rockmount observed the silence in the playground. The silence was brought to an end by Ada (Onyx Class) performing The Last Post on her trumpet brilliantly!

The piece is really written with block chords (when you play all three notes together at the same time), but I challenged Daisy to work out how to play the piece with broken chords (when you play each note of the chord seperately in a pattern). Well done Daisy - you did it brilliantly!

The Show Must Go On!

Sadly our concert with the CSMA Junior Choir at Fairfield Halls had to be cancelled due to Lockdown, so the Y5&6 Choir decided to share this medley of movie songs that we were due to perform as the final number at the concert. This was recorded in one take, with a few of our singers filling in the parts that other school choirs would have been singing at the concert. Kiera Morgan sings the solo at the start of Pure Imagination. Kiera auditioned and was selected from all the schools to perform this solo at the concert. We're hopeful the concert will be rescheduled for July...

Rockmount Choir performing with the LMP Christmas 2017

The first of many collaborations with the London Mozart Players. Rockmount choir was asked to sing David Braid's song 'Yesterday, Like You and Me' with the LMP at their Christmas Concert in St John's, Crystal Palace. The song was composed specifically for the concert so Rockmount choir was honoured to be asked to perform the song with the orchestra. Miss Symons even got to conduct! :)
