Rockmount Primary School

All Can Achieve

Safeguarding and Welfare

At Rockmount Primary School we believe that safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Every member of staff who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play in safeguarding them. In order to fulfil this responsibility, every member of staff takes a “Child Centred” approach, considering at all times what is in the best interests of the child. We ensure that all children are safeguarded by actively encouraging members of staff to work together proactively with children and their families so that children are protected from emotional and physical harm. Our school safeguards and promotes the welfare of all children.

We regularly invite the Local Authority to audit our Safeguarding practice to ensure that we keep up to date with all new developments. The July 2024 report stated:

“There is a strong safeguarding culture within the school adopted by staff and pupils alike.”

“The safeguarding team have detailed knowledge of the families, the community, and what is needed to provide a safe and healthy learning environment.”

"The senior leaders continuously reflect, respond and evolve. They recognise there is always room for improvement and this prevents complacency."

Rockmount Primary School is part of Operation Encompass which is run by the Metropolitan Police.

Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has been exposed to, or involved in, any domestic incident.
