All Can Achieve

Food and Wellbeing

At Rockmount, we believe that food and wellbeing are directly linked. Through our topic teaching we learn about the impact that food can have on our wellbeing, for example, the benefits of eating a well-balanced diet and the role this plays in helping our mood.

Magic Breakfast Bagels

We discuss the importance of having breakfast and the impact that this has on our wellbeing. Having a balanced breakfast helps to ensure that children are ready for a day of learning.

To help ensure that all children have breakfast, at Rockmount, all children have the option of a bagel for breakfast. The bagels are provided by the National School Breakfast Programme (NSBP), which is funded by the government and delivered by the charities Family Action and Magic Breakfast. The bagels are made to a special recipe, containing 25% whole wheat and fortified with Vitamin D. They are also free from any artificial flavourings or preservatives. Each child receives a portion of a bagel depending on their year group. Nursery - Year 3 receive a quarter of a bagel and years 4-6 receive half of a bagel. The aim of the magic breakfast is to ensure that no child starts the school day feeling hungry.

Please see the attachment below for practical tips for breakfast at home.
