The pupils of Rockmount played a vital role in making the 2013 Crystal Palace Overground Festival a success. Our school was one of several schools who participated in the festivals ‘Great Exhibition’.
Amongst all the entries that were judged Rockmount had 5 pupils whose work was selected. One of those 5 pieces of artwork was also the overall winner of the competition. It was a huge achievement by our pupils, who worked alongside the rest of Rockmount’s pupils on our whole school art project themed,’ Our SE19’. Pupils worked in a variety of media including watercolour landscapes, collage, urban landscapes using charcoal and cubist drawings using pastels. The five prize winners attended a prize giving ceremony at the Haynes Lane Arts and Crafts Market on Saturday 29th June.
Our pupils were also exemplary ambassadors as they showcased their singing skills at Westow Park. The children were rewarded with applauds and cheers from the many parents, carers and onlookers who listened to the beautiful renditions. All the singers in the choir rehearsed tirelessly with staff in the weeks leading up to the festival.
All pupils and staff are now looking forward to the 7th Overground Festival with great enthusiasm.
