Keep up to date with what's happening in school.
What a wonderful morning we've had!! Thank you to Gabby Dawnay for sharing her beautiful book with us - If I Had a Crocodile and Alex Barrow for sharing his illustrations with us and teaching us how to draw a crocodile.
Thank you to Karen Owen for sharing her journey as an author with us today. It was great to hear what inspires her to write stories and we look forward to reading her next book in the Mayor and Mynah series.
Year 6 had an amazing visit from Alice Hemming, where she showcased her new book 13th Vampire and talked to children about her writing process and how she creates such amazing descriptive books. The children then had a chance to show off some of their creative writing to Alice and have one of her books signed by her.
Year 6 would like to thank Alice for such a great visit!
Reception buzzed with excitement this afternoon as we played host to some delightful guests! Two bearded dragons and a tortoise. We talked about how to look after a pet, what they eat and what type of vet they see if they are poorly.
We are excited to announce that our copy of 'Perfect Pets 2023' arrived in the post today showcasing the illustrations that children in Rockmount Children's Club submitted last term.
We will be looking at the book in assemblies next week and the children are very excited to see their illustrations in a published book.
Have a look at a couple of great drawings here.
Congratulations to all who took part.

It is jam-packed with information from this half term.
We linked the Winter Fair to our International Schools Award focus this year and celebrated 'Christmas Around the World'. Thank you to the whole school community for their contributions of time and resources that made the event such a huge success- the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. We raised an incredible £4060 at the fair this year which is amazing—a huge thanks to the RFC for all their hard work.
Nursery to Year 6 enjoyed taking part in 'No Pens Day' with a range of creative activities taking place across the day without a pen in sight! Some of the activities which took place included painting with our feet, cooking, chalk mark making, maths lessons outside, drama and sensory walks. The children thoroughly enjoyed the activities and having the opportunity to develop their oral language skills in fun, practical ways.
Christmas has officially arrived at Rockmount with an 'around the world' twist! Each year group has made decorations from around the globe.
This week, Reception had their outdoor learning session. After a discussion about fire safety, we noticed the wonderful sounds, sights, and smells of the natural surroundings. Reception had a lovely afternoon toasting marshmallows by the campfire.
